Ms Redmond completed her specialist training in Cardio-thoracic Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland in June 2007. She was awarded a United States Surgical Minimally Invasive Surgery Scholarship and trained in her subspecialty field of thoracic surgery and lung transplantation at Toronto General Hospital before appointment as a Consultant in Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation at the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust in September 2008. In March 2009, she successfully established a clinical programme and is the lead for Ex-Vivo Lung Perfusion within the Transplant Directorate.

Ms Redmond completed her Postgraduate Doctorate (MD) from University College Cork, National University of Ireland. Following a Young Investigators Award from the European Association of Cardio-thoracic Surgery, Ms Redmond has gone on to win the prestigious Society Medal of the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland for her work on the ""Role of Human Stem Cells in Tumour Angiogenesis"".

Ms Redmond has both published in peer review journals and presented at European and North American conferences, including ""Old Treatments for a New Disease"" at the World Conference on Tuberculosis, Ireland 2007 and ""Initiating an EVLP Programme"" as invited speaker during the ISHLT conference, Paris 2009.
